Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
