Devastating News on Cargo Plane Accident: Death Toll Rises to 13

The tally of lives lost resulting from the transport jet that ignited and went down has now reached 13, according to latest statements.

Official's Statement

While en route to the Union’s candlelight gathering, I received word of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the plane incident,” wrote the municipal leader in a social media post. “My prayers are with the relatives, friends and peers of all who were lost in this week’s calamity. We will get through this as one.”

Victims Named

An announcement from UPS identified the flight crew operating the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies reach out to every staff member who has been affected and everyone in our Louisville area – assisting you and making sure you obtain the attention and aid you need is our focus,” the firm’s message stated.

Investigation Findings

Federal authorities revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s port side wing ignited and an engine separated soon after takeoff from the airfield, leading to the plane to plummet and erupt into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is investigating the plane’s maintenance history, which was in Texas for fixes a period prior to the incident.

Aircraft records revealed the aircraft was on the tarmac in that location from 3 September to last week.

“We are knowledgeable that this plane was located in San Antonio,” stated an NTSB member on Thursday, without a precise period. “We will review all elements of service that was performed, even the repair time, straight to the time of the journey.”

Retrieval of Critical Items

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was located on the runway.

The devices – known as data containers – were designed to endure collision damage and extreme temperatures from blazes, and they appeared to be intact when found within the crash debris. Investigators will examining data from the devices.

The plane’s concluding data recordings showed an height of that level and a speed of that speed before the accident.

Maintenance Record

Based on FAA records dated 18 September, a fracture on a component within the center wing fuel tank demanded repairs.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which indicated it offers airframe maintenance for the company’s aircraft and runs a service location in Texas, declined to comment, but stated it would cooperate fully when investigators contacted it.

Operations Continue

In the meantime, the facility operations continued last night with its Next Day Air or evening operation, spokesperson the company official said. The three landing strips at the airport were likewise open again.

The UPS package handling facility in Louisville is the firm’s largest. The center engages over a large number of workers in the locality, handles 300 flights daily and processes in excess of 400,000 parcels an hour.

Public Response

A gathering was conducted on the late afternoon of that date by the local Teamsters Union, which supports employees at the airfield, the firm’s largest shipping facility.

The union chapter, which supports UPS workers, began the gathering with a quiet tribute at that time, the approximate hour of the crash before.

“This event was so sudden, so unexpected,” the mayor spoke to the assembly of two hundred. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to any of those who we have lost.”
